Repeat prescriptions will be issued at the doctor's discretion and these are normally for patients on long-term medication. Requests for prescriptions can be made in writing, by calling in at the surgery or ordering online (see below). Repeat prescriptions are only available from 2.00pm over the telephone. Please allow 2 working days from the time it is ordered, for a prescription to be ready to collect.
Acute prescriptions are medications not on your repeat list. We have updated our procedure for requesting these Patients are no longer able to request these over the phone/in person via reception and this is in order to reduce miscommunication.
If you wish to order an acute prescription, please fill in an online consultation request / e-consult and select the middle option of 'I want help with a medical issue' then fill the form completely and do not leave any blanks.
Alternatively you may ask to be sent an accurx message in which you can respond back to us with name of the medication being requested, details of why and what do you use/need it for. It may take upto 7 working days for us to respond to this query and a response will usually be sent to you via sms/text.
Please note, this is a messaging service for the GP and is not to be used for acute urgent illnesses, which will still require a GP appointment.
It is important to note that the prescription request may either be issued or be rejected depending on the request. If the request is not processed, you will be advicecd on what next action to take e.g book with GP to discuss further or purchase over the counter etc.
